Mass General Brigham in Salem, New Hampshire, is one in a series of care facility projects developed to serve as a prototype design - which integral concepts are incorporated at future Mass General sites. The restorative terrace and ‘welcome mat’ concepts are the foundation of the project design. Elements within the kit of parts include custom site furnishings and specialty hardscape design. The site design focuses on the pedestrian experience entering the site and configuration of the East terrace to provide an area of refuge for staff and patients.

I had been involved with this project from concept design through construction administration. I have reviewed and returned >80 submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs as well as conducted site visits and prepared field reports and a final punch list.
