74 Middlesex: Urban & Planting Design
Somerville, Massachusetts

The City of Somerville, Massachusetts in 2021 established a Native Planting Ordinance to provide minimum planting standards for the use of native vegetation on city-owned land. Our project team worked closely with the Urban Forestry Committee and City of Somerville to ensure those planting requirements for the project site were met. The result is an intensely diverse palette prioritizing natives endemic to the region.
Our team produced sun and shade studies to aid the development of the garden and greenroof palettes. I participated in community events and presented design concepts to city officials. I also assisted the project team with set documentation from design development phase to construction documentation.
